Scrap It - Winter Walk Page

Hello, and welcome back! I have some scrapbook pages to share this week that I worked on over the weekend. I wanted to capture the adventure of walking two dogs in the winter snow. I kept my friend's dog for a few days, and had to adjust to all the daily routines of my dog x2! It wasn't as difficult as I thought, and we pretty easily settled into our daily routine.

This page started with a 12x12 Whisper White Core'dinations Cardstock piece. I die cut four of the speech bubbles, laid them on the background, and spritzed around each one one at a time with Pool Party, Old Olive, Strawberry Slush and Calypso Coral inks mixed with alchohol. You can see the background by itself below.

For the title, I stamped three of the frames after inking up just the frame part of the image. The "woo-hoo" image is the full stamp, and all the speech bubbles are from the Just Sayin' Stamp Set. The other three greetings are from Hip Notes and also from the Make Note This And That Rotary Stamp. So many great sayings in all of these sets! The speech bubbles are adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

To finish out the page, I drew some lines and added my journaling. I also thought the page needed something to ground it. So, I cut a strip of the black and white stripe pattern from the Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper. I added some messy stitching over that and a short piece of the Strawberry Slush 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim. Then, I added a Coastal Cabana In Color Boutique Details piece and Calypso Coral and Old Olive buttons. I am really pleased with how this page turned out! I have to remember to try this technique again.

That's all for today. I have two more scrapbook pages to share this week, so I hope you'll join me here again. Thanks for stopping by!

2011 Stampin' Up Parade your Pet Monthly Contest Non-Winning Entry

I'm taking a short break from my SU AA non-winning entries to share this scrapbook page that I made for a Stampin' Up monthly contest themed for pet projects. I have these great pictures of my dog Monty begging for food from my Dad. He looks soooooo cute when he wants food! I don't know how he does it, but he turns on the extra cute charm. Since he was begging from someone besides me I was able to get his cute expressions on the camera. This was a little story about him that I had wanted to tell for awhile, so it was great to save the memory as well as enter the contest. Enjoy, and thanks for visiting!

After the Park

Eeek! It's been a week since I posted to my blog. Two weekends ago it was beautiful and sunny in Chicago. I took Monty to the local park as he was in serious need of an off-leash run! We stayed for about an hour and 45 minutes. So, what does Monty look like after that long at the part? He was just able to make it into the door of my house, and then plopped down on the floor like so. Life is good!

Close Encounters of the Skunk Kind & Welcome Baby Card

So last Friday on October 30th, Monty and I had one of our Close Encounters of the Skunk kind! Almost ran into a skunk in the morning at 6:50 am. Even though it was that late in the morning, it was dark and cloudy. I wisely didn't go to the patch of grass near the Ace hardware store because I didn't want to run into any "critters". Also, I had my flashlight with me, and scanned the row of bushes for critters. The leaves are mostly gone now, so it's easy to spot anything living there. So, we stayed in the grass near the mailboxes. He did his business, and then something caught his attention behind the row of bushes. He was watching, and his tale was upright and he was swinging it alertly back and forth. I strained my eyes, and finally saw a dark body low to the ground waddling back and forth. Then I noticed that the dark body had two white stripes! Crap…time to move on. Thankfully he hadn't figured out what it was nor barked, so we left in a hurry across the front of the townhouse building, through the street and directly into my house. That was close enough for that day! I'll tell you about our other encounter tomorrow.  Sorry, no pictures of the skunk or Monty during that time. ;-)

So, my friends in MN just had their baby. She is so cute! I bought a bunch of cute pink items at the local Target to send to them. It's hard to leave that pink isle at the store! I also made them a card, and I really like how the layout came out if I do say so myself.

Winter Fun

For the first post on my new blog, I thought I would share about my dog Monty.  He loves the snow, and there's about 6-8 inches coating the local dog park right now.  I have one video and one picture of him with frost, snow and slobber on his face.  There is also a short video of him doing his "shake".  It's the full body sort, and works to expel snow, rain, etc. from his body.  It also works to expel loose hair, thus adding it to our surroundings at home.  ;-)
