Can You Case It #77 - A Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome back! This week at Can You Case It, we have a sketch challenge for you to play along with. Check it out below.

CYCI77

I took the opportunity to stamp a fancy background, and then cut it into three pieces to match the sketch. The colors I used were Blushing Bride, Watermelon Wonder and Basic Gray.

CYCI77_1

I used the Flower Patch Photopolymer Stamp Set for all of the flowers in the background and on the tag, and the Silhouettes & Script Clear-Mount Stamp Set for the greeting. The tag and card base are both made from the new Thick Whisper White Cardstock...love that stuff! I used the Note Tag Punch as well.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you'll join us, and share a project using this sketch over at Can You Case It this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #76 - 2015 In Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for our next Can You Case It design team challenge. This time it's a color combo, and we were to use some of the new 2015-2017 In Colors along with neutrals. I'm enjoying using these new colors. It's always fun to have something new to get creative with!

CYCI76

For my card I used three of the new colors including Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon and Tip Top Taupe. I also used some of the new Whisper White Thick Cardstock. It's great to use for card bases as I've done here. I also stamped the first pear image, masked it and stamped a second. For the banner piece, I inked Congrats in Tip Top Taupe, stamped it off, and then stamped it multiple times across in rows. It was a little time consuming, but I love how it turned out.

CYCI76_1

I added some patterned papers from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack, some sequins, and a tag with the new Tip Top Taupe 1" Dotted Lace Trim tied at the top. I copied the layout of this great card from Inge Groot that I had added to my Pinterest board. I think one of my favorite things about this card is that there is lots of color, layering and texture, but there is also a nice amount of white space for the eye to rest on.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you'll join us at Can You Case It, and share your creation made with these fresh new colors! Thanks for stopping by.

Can You Case It #74 - Summer Fun Edition!

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm back with the next challenge over at the Can You Case It challenge blog. We are all sharing projects that celebrate summer and fun! I could use a little more summer heat around here, I tell you. I guess maybe I should be careful what I wish for, but Friday was rainy and cool at 65 degrees. That's not my idea of summer! So, maybe my bright and sunny card will bring on the warm weather. At the very least, it should brighten someone's day!

CYCI74

So, here it is. I started by painting watercolor shimmer paints through the sunshine mask from the retired Hooray It's Your Day Project Kit. I used three different colors, and blended them together for each ray. I matted that with Calypso Coral Cardstock, added a layer of Vanilla Coaster Board and attached it to a Daffodil Delight card base. The main stamp was inked in Daffodil Delight, and then I used the rock-and-roll technique to add some Calypso Coral ink to the edges of the sun image.

I trimmed the sun image out, and adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals to the card with some of the new Gold Thread behind it. A few gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim and the new Metallics Sequins completed the card.

The sun rays were water-colored on the Shimmer White Cardstock, which I just love for water-coloring. Plus, these paints have lots of shimmer on their own too. You can see it a little bit in this photo, but it's even more shimmery in person.

Can You Case It #73 - Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! It's time for another challenge over at Can You Case It, and this one is a color challenge. You'll love the variety of projects that our team came up with this week. These colors can be soft and romantic, or more clean and graphic looking. I went more in the clean and graphic direction this time.

CYCI73

Here is my card. I had fun mixing a lot of different patterns together including a text patterned paper, a floral stamped cardstock shape and a striped pattern I made with watercolor and markers on white cardstock. To make the stripes, I watercolored Sahara Sand ink in quarter inch stripes every half an inch. Then, I added a thin stripe of black ink using the .01 Project Life Marker and another stripe of Blushing Bride using the brush tip of the marker. I love how this turned out, so I'm sure I'll be using this technique again in the future.

CYCI73_Fabulous1

I popped up the label shaped greeting on Stampin' Dimensionals, added a little pile of white thread under it and two rhinestones to the center of the flowers to complete the card.

Well, that is all for today! Hope you are having a terrific weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Can You Case It #72 - Sketch Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! Today I'm sharing my project for the sketch challenge over at the Can You Case It blog.

CYCI72

I pulled out some new goodies for this project. Even though I'm sad to see the old colors and designs go, it's always a fun boost to my creativity to have new items to play with. I used a new hostess stamp set called Silhouettes and Script. The hat is stamped in a new color called Watermelon Wonder. The new paper is from the Cherry on Top 6x6 paper pad, and the lace is also new in Watermelon Wonder. The greeting is stamped in Basic Black ink, and trimmed out. I love the font that looks like label tape!

A few individual Bermuda Bay sequins and Rhinestone Basic Jewels Embellishments were added to the focal image to complete the card.

Can You Case It #71 - Color Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! Today I'm playing along with Can You Case It as a challenger. The 71st challenge is to use two of the retiring 2013-2015 In Colors along with gold. I am really going to miss these colors, especially Strawberry Slush! I remember when it first came out, and I thought, "Ugh a bright pink." Now I use it all the time.

CYCI71

I started with a Crisp Cantaloupe card base, and then added a layer of Shimmer White Cardstock with a "watercolor smushed" background of Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush ink. I also splattered some Crisp Cantaloupe ink over the background for a little more of that color. Next I gold embossed the greeting onto Shimmer White Cardstock, punched it with a 2 1/2" circle punch and then layered it on a diecut of Gold Foil Paper.

CYCI71_Front

Some gold thread, gold and Strawberry Slush sequins and Stamin' Dimensionals finish this card off.

Can You Case It #70 - May Flowers Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! It's time for another challenge at the Can You Case It blog, this time with a May Flowers theme. As the designers, we could use floral stamps, floral die-cuts or even floral patterned paper. Just make flowers the highlight of your project, and then share with us by linking up your project!

CYCI70

I have a LOT of floral stamps that I could have used, but I surprised myself and used flower die cuts and a small strip of floral patterned paper instead. I was in the mood to make a bolder card. Also, my new Sneak Peak products from Stampin' Up arrived. So, the links below will be a little bare as several of the products aren't available for sale until June 2nd. I used two new colors, Watermelon Wonder and Cucumber Crush. Also, this is new Cotton Paper in these colors. I'd describe it as sturdy tissue paper. It die-cuts like butter, and you can crinkle up the petals and leaves and they will keep their shape. I used the front and back of a piece of Basic Gray patterned paper from the new Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. The patterns are this stripe/floral and polka-dots with a hand-writing pattern on the opposite side. I added a little bit of watercolor spatter in Basic Gray to the right side with my Aqua Painter.

CYCI70-Floral-Thanks1

For the flower center, I stamped the thanks sentiment from the retiring A Happy Hooray Stamp Set in Versamark, and then heat embossed it in white. Then, I sponged the Watermelon Wonder ink over the embossed design, and then punched it out with the 1 3/8" Circle Punch. I also layered it onto two circles punched from the Vanilla Coaster Board for more dimension.

Playing along with Can You Case It #69

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for the challenge over at Can You Case It. We're changing up the format, so every other week I'll be switching between being a team designer and a challenger. It should be fun!

This week is another sketch challenge using the image below.

CYCI69

I decided to use my favorite patterned papers again before they retire from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper. I also used the Cupcake Party Clear-Mount Stamp Set for the images, which has a matching punch. I did fussy-cut the little Happy Birthday pennant though. The yellow banner is stamped with the "party, party, party" phrase from the stamp set in Crushed Curry on Crushed Curry Cardstock. It's fun to use your stamped images to make your own simple embellishment in addition to using them for the focal point of the card.

CYCI69_1

I added some texture with the Bermuda Bay Sequin Trim, and also used Stampin' Dimensionals to pop up the greeting and the top of the cupcake and flag. The punch also has three little circles, so I added a scattering of those in Strawberry Slush, Crushed Curry and Tangelo Twist. So happy to have another birthday card for my stash! This one is notecard sized as 3.5" x 5".

CYCI69_2

Well, that's all for now. I have a few new posts scheduled for another Try It Series using the Simply Pressed Clay, which is on the retirement list. Hopefully it will inspire you to purchase it while you can! Thanks for stopping by today.

Can You Case It #68 - Sketch Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! Today I have a card to share using the Can You Case It Sketch #68. You'll love how many different looks our team achieved with this sketch!

CYCI68_Sketch

Here is my card. I'm really going to miss this patterned paper that is retiring, but I'm glad that the feathers and matching dies will still be in the next catalog. I used a greeting that is also retiring, and decided to make a thank you card. You can never have too many thank you and birthday cards, right?

CYCI68 Sketch Challenge, thanks card by Marisa Gunn

There are lots of beautiful colors in the pattern, but I focused on Basic Gray, gold and Crisp Cantaloupe for all of the other items. The middle layer is a piece of Gold Foil Sheets, and I covered it with a slightly smaller piece of Vellum Cardstock. I also heat embossed one of the small leaves with Gold Embossing Powder on Vellum Cardstock. Some In Color 2013-2015 sequins (also retiring) complete the card along with a mini gold clothespin.

Can You Case It #67 - Mother's Day Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! This week's challenge is to make a project for the mothers (or mother figures) in our lives over at the Can You Case It Blog.

CYCI67new

I decided to pull out my Flower Patch stamp set and matching Flower Fair Framelits Dies for this card. I wanted to make a wreath from them, so I die cut a circle into a piece of Sahara Sand, and arranged my flowers around it, leaving a spot at the bottom for a thick baker's twine bow. I was afraid that maybe the flowers were a little too large for this design, but I like how it turned out. After the flowers were adhered to the Sahara Sand piece, it was adhered to a Whisper White card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

CYCI67_Mother_1

To finish the card, I used the Hello You Thinlits Dies for the "happy", which I die cut twice and glued together. I also hand cut a white banner, folded the ends, and stamped "Mother's Day" in the center. Both of these pieces were glued to the sides of the wreath. You can see a close-up below. The colors I used are listed below along with all of the other supplies.

CYCI67_Mother_2

I'm also entering this in the Virginia's View Challenge #14 for Layers and Dimension.

Well, that's all for today. I hope you'll join us at CYCI this week and create (and share) a special project for your Mother. Thanks for stopping by!
