OSAT Blog Hop - For the Kids
August 10, 2017
Hello and welcome back! I'm here with this month's One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop, and the theme is kids or back to school.
I thought it would be fun to make some small note cards that could be used for kids lunches as well as a back to school gift.
I just love the Pieces & Patterns Stamp Set and the coordinating Pick A Pattern Designer Series Paper. The dinosaur and bear are so cute, there are some fun greetings and lots of coordinating filler images. And, there are even more fun critters on the patterned papers! These are 3" x 3" cards, made of Sahara Sand Cardstock with a layer of the more simple patterned papers. I die cut Thick Whisper White Cardstock shapes for the greetings using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, and stamped the images in Basic Black and one of the other coordinating colors (Flirty Flamingo, Emerald Envy and Crushed Curry). I used Stampin' Dimensionals for some depth, and Linen Thread for texture. The "hello there" greeting is really a reverse circle image, and I just trimmed out the words instead. I love finding additional ways to use greetings like this.
Next is the back to school gift. I made the bag with the fun camera patterned paper and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits Dies. There are also 3 dies with rows of shapes, and I used the row of circles add some interest to the top edge of the bag. The fun banner, star and word are from this same set of dies.
I hit the jackpot at Target. I found some colored pencils in Emerald Envy, an eraser in Flirty Flamingo, a small notebook in Basic Black and even some sticky page flags in coordinating colors. I used the 3" x 6" cello bag to hold it, and some Crumb Cake 3/8" Classic Weave Ribbon to hold it shut.
The banner is adhered to the front with dimensionals. I also tied a length of Linen Thread through the banner on one side and around the back of the bag to the other and into a bow. I always think that ribbon or twine is the perfect finishing touch!
Well, that is all for me today, but you'll want to move on to Jessie Holton for some more inspiring projects!
