TGIFC100 - Casing Mercedes!
March 24, 2017
Hello and welcome back! Today is a special day over at the TGIF Challenges Blog. It's our 100th challenge! Isn't that amazing. To help celebrate this fact, we are highlighting the blog's founder Mercedes Weber. Mercedes has fabulous style, mixing in lots of layers, shabby chic goodness and fun details.
I chose to copy this card from Mercedes' blog. I loved the bold stripes in the background, the layers with a doily, flower and circle greeting, and the banners as well. So, I copied those elements. I used the Cool Treats suite of products which are some of my favorite products from this Occasions catalog! I used the Crumb Cake striped paper from the Neutrals paper pack, over a layer of Peekaboo Peach Cardstock as the background. I covered the stripes with a layer of vellum to tone them down just a bit. Next, I layered a Watermelon Wonder doily, and a piece of the cute strawberry/cherry patterned paper from the Tasty Treats Specialty Designer Series Paper cut with the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies.
For the focal point, I die cut the ice cream cone from Crumb Cake Cardstock. The dies in this set are amazing! The cone has the texture on the bottom half, just like a real cone would. For the ice cream, I inked it in Peekaboo Peach, stamped off and then stamped it onto Whisper White Cardstock. The swirl stamp was inked in Peekaboo Peach ink and stamped full strength. Then, the swirl image has a matching die cut. And, look at the super cute strawberry! I cut one each from Watermelon Wonder and Pear Pizzazz Cardstocks, trimmed off the top of the red portion and glued it to the full green piece.
I used some of the same elements to decorate the inside of the card as well.
Well, that is all for me today. But, I hope you'll join us over at the TGIF Challenges blog get inspired by Mercedes and her style, and share your own creation with with us for our 100th Challenge.
