Artisan Design Team - It's a Celebration!

Hello and welcome back! Today is my last blog hop as part of the 2015-2016 Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team (sniff, sniff). I can't tell you what an amazing time I have had this year getting to know these 20 amazing women, and creating with them. I don't know about you, but I have been proud and impressed by what we've done this year. I hope you have followed along, enjoyed our posts and found something to inspire you in your crafting. This week, we're featuring the Frosted Medallions and It's a Celebration stamp sets as well as the Hello December Project Life Card Kit. Also, our projects will be posted to the Stampin' Up! Corporate Facebook page on Friday. Please keep hopping through all 20 of us so you don't miss a thing! Be sure to use something like Google Translate for those blogs not in your native language. Also, you can find all of our projects for the year in one easy place, on our Pinterest board. You might have just arrived from Krista Frattin, and I know you loved her beautiful project as much as I did.

I decided to use the It's a Celebration stamp set to make two New Year's cards. I'm ending the year using two of my favorite techniques, and sharing projects that I feel represent my style. I used emboss resist, watercolor, sponging, as well as sequins, ribbon and metallic thread (some of my favorite embellishments). Let's take a closer look.

So first, the official Happy New Year card! For the main background, I sponged areas of Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo onto Shimmer White Cardstock. I tried to keep the edges of each color soft, and blend them lightly together with the next color. Next, I stamped the fireworks/sparkle images from the stamp set with Versamark ink, and heat embossed them in silver. Then, I dropped some water onto the background from my large Aqua Painter, then after a couple of seconds I dabbed up the extra water with a paper towel. It leaves these fun watermarks behind that add even more texture. The background is attached to a piece of Silver Foil Sheets, and then to a Soft Sky card base.

I added sequins from the Fancy Frost Sequins (Sweet Sugarplum and Soft Sky) and from the Blushing Bride Sequin Trim to the centers of the stamped images using Mini Glue Dots. The greeting is stamped in Versamark on Sweet Sugarplum Cardstock, and heat embossed in silver. I also trimmed it into a banner using the Triple Banner Punch, before adhering it with Stampin' Dimensionals. Some silver ribbon from the  3/8" (1 Cm) Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack and Silver Metallic thread are layered under the greeting to complete it.

I think this card could be used for New Year's as well as a winter birthday card. I started by stamping the fireworks/sparkle images with Versamark ink onto watercolor paper, and then heat embossing in Silver. Next I saturated a piece of watercolor paper with water, and then dropped in Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum and Flirty Flamingo ink using my Aqua Painter. I tried to center the colors on the stamped images, and then let them feather together without getting too muddy. I added the same sequins to the watercolor piece, mounted it to Silver Foil Sheets and then to another Soft Sky card base.

The greeting is stamped in Versamark ink onto Flirty Flamingo cardstock, and then die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies. (*Sadly, the stitched dies are currently on back order, but I believe they should be available to order in mid-January). I used more silver ribbon from the  3/8" (1 Cm) Glitter Ribbon Combo Pack and Silver Metallic thread layered under the greeting.

Well, that is all for me today. Normally, you would head off to Michelle Long's blog, but she is busy taking care of her son Thomas. You can read a bit of her current story here, and I know she would love it if you stopped by her blog to wish her well. Also, you'll want to click on the button below to get to Rachel's beautiful project next! Thank you so much for stopping by, and leaving your comments for me this year. I'll be sharing some more holiday projects and sneak peaks of the upcoming Occasions catalog for the rest of December, so I hope you'll continue to come around for more inspiration in the year to come!
