Christmas Card - Cute and Whimsical

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm here with another card from the Online Card Classes Holiday Style, this time featuring the cute and whimsical style. I love the little animals from the Thankful Forest Friends set from Stampin' Up! It contains the bear and fox below, and a little rabbit. It's meant to be an autumn themed set, but I wanted to use them for a winter card. I gave the fox a ribbon scarf, and the bear a ribbon bow. Aren't they cute all dressed up for the snow?

ChristmasCute_Full

I made a mask from a post-it note using the 2 1/2 circle punch. I sponged both Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon inks into the circle. The decorative element above and below is also from the Thankful Forest Friends Stamp Set, stamped in Soft Suede and fussy cut out. The greeting is from the Happy Scenes Photopolymer Stamp Set, and is heat embossed in white on Garden Green.

The strip of paper on the left is from the Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. It really is beautiful in person! The designs are metallic foil on vellum in green trees, red stripes and silver snowflakes. I was able to capture a little bit of the shine in the picture below.

Well, that is all for today. I'll be back later this week with another holiday card in the shimmer and shine style. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #97 - An Inspiration Challenge

Hello and welcome back! I'm back this week with another Can You Case It Challenge, this time an inspiration challenge based on the following photo. Isn't it pretty? This card also fits the next style from Online Card Classes Holiday Style, classic and elegant.

CYCI97

I loved the color combo of red, gold and white, the snowflakes and the ornament. Here is what I came up with. The gold snowflakes are a piece of vellum from the Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack. I stamped the ornament in Real Red ink, spritzed it with water, and then stamped it on Shimmer White Cardstock. I die cut if with the matching dies, and cut the ornament top with Gold Foil Sheets. The ornament was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals, and I added a piece of Gold 1/8" Ribbon for the ornament to hang from.

CYCI97_Full

For the greeting, I cut the top layer with the Christmas Greetings Thinlits Dies from the Gold Foil Sheets, and then again three times from regular Whisper White Cardstock. I glued all of the layers together with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. I love that thing! You need one, yes you do. To finish the ornament, I colored some of the Rhinestone Basic Jewels with a red Sharpie marker and then adhered them to the ornament.

Christmas Card - Clean and Simple

Hello and welcome back! So, I took another class (Online Card Classes Holiday Style). It was all about creating cards in different styles. For some reason when I take these classes, it always turns out to be a really busy time and I can't always participate in real time. So, I have been creating cards in the illustrated styles after the fact. Today's card represents the clean and simple style.

I used the Jingle All The Way Bundle from Stampin' Up! I started by stamping the small star cluster in Versamark Ink on a piece of watercolor paper, and then heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Next I watercolored the piece with Night of Navy, Rich Razzleberry and Rose Red ink pads using my Aquapainters. This was mounted to a piece of Night of Navy Cardstock and to a Smoky Slate card base.

ChristmasSimple_Full

To complete the card, I added a piece of thick white cardstock die-cut with the house image. The greeting is stamped in Versmark and heat embossed in silver. This piece was adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to the card base. I added a few flat and curved silver sequins to complete the card.

Well, that is all for today. Tomorrow, I'll have the next style of Christmas card to share, classic and elegant. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #96 - A Sketch Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! I'm here today with another Can You Case It challenge, this time using a sketch. Below is the sketch for this week.

CYCI96

Here is my card for the week. I may or may not have taken some liberties with the sketch this week. But hey...it's meant to be a jumping off point for our creativity, right? Well, I jumped off! I love how this turned out thought. I used the Among the Branches Photopolymer Stamp Set. The images are all simple pieces by themselves, but they make something special when all together. For the leaves, I stamped them in Whisper White Craft Ink first, and then stamped over them in Crushed Curry, Tangerine Tango and Watermelon Wonder. If you repeat this process, make sure to clean your stamp between every time of stamping the colored leaves so you don't transfer any white craft ink to your other pads (or wait for it to completely dry!). I love the effect, and it almost gives it a 3D appearance.

CYCI96_Full

To finish the card, I trimmed part of the greeting from the full circle image, and adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals over some Crushed Curry Baker's Twine and some Brights Candy Dots. I also sponged around the edge of the main panel with some Crumb Cake Classic Ink.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you'll join us at Can You Case It this week with your take on our sketch. Thanks for stopping by!

Fancy Friday November 2015 Edition

Hello and welcome back! Today I have something fun to share for multiple reasons. I was invited to join a blog hop with several creative ladies called Fancy Friday! All of these lovely ladies are amazingly creative, and I'm honored to be asked to join them. We'll be posting once a month, usually the last Friday of the month. But, because of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, we're posting a week early this month. Also, we have a Pinterest page with all the projects from the past and present. Just click on the Fancy Friday logo below to get to the Pinterest board! Now, on to sharing my creations for this week along with the other fancy ladies! You might have just arrived from the fabulous Krista Frattin and her stop on the hop.

This month, our theme was fancy Christmas with a non-traditional color combination. I turned to Pinterest to get some inspiration for my color choices, and really like what I came up with. I used Pumpkin Pie, Melon  Mambo, Wild Wasabi and Bermuda Bay, definitely not a traditional holiday color combo! For my first card, I used the Festival Of Trees Photopolymer Stamp Set from the main catalog. I stamped on Shimmer White Cardstock a variety of trees. I created the white tinsel on the Bermuda Bay trees with Versamark Ink and White Embossing Powder.

FancyFridayNov15_1full

I used White Baker's Twine, fringe scissors on the Cherry On Top Cotton Paper Assortment, and Brights Sequin Assortment to complete the card. Both the main tree piece and the greeting are adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals too.

FancyFridayNov15_1detail

Next, I made a really non-traditional card! This uses the same color combo as above, but I used the What's Your Type? Photopolymer Stamp Set. There are so many great shapes in this set, and lots of fun things that can be done with them (besides creating the trendy alphabet they were designed for).

FancyFridayNov15_2full

I used the Brights Sequin Assortment again, and made a string of them for the orange tree. I also added some more White Baker's Twine to the top of the card. The greeting is stamped in Versamark, and heat embossed in white.

FancyFridayNov15_2detail

ETA: I decided to make a couple of Christmas tags also using the same color scheme and theme. I used the Layered Letters Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp to make the greetings, which were stamped in Versamark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder.

OSAT Blog Hop - Holidays

Hello and welcome back! It's never too early to start making Christmas tags and cards, right? I have some of both to share with you today as part of the One Stamp At a Time Blog Hop for the Holidays!

OSAT Blog Hop Logo

I started with the Peaceful Pines Photopolymer Bundle including the stamp set and dies, and paired it with the Season Of Cheer Designer Series Paper. The tree was stamped in Versamark,  heat-embossed in white and then die cut with the holes. It is backed with a matching tree die cut from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper. I finished it with a white star sequin and some Whisper White Baker's Twine.

OSAT_Nov15_Holidays_1

The circle behind the tree is a circle punched from Soft Sky Cardstock, and topped with Vellum Cardstock dry embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The banners are die-cut from the holly print in the Season of Cheer DSP and Pear Pizzazz Cardstock.

OSAT_Nov15_Holidays_2

For the greeting, I layered two of the tapes from the Season Of Cheer Designer Washi Tape, stamped the greeting in Cherry Cobbler ink, punched it out with the 1 1/4" circle and stapled it to the card front, trimming off the edge to match the card edge.

OSAT_Nov15_Holidays_3

And now on to the tags. I actually made the tags first, and patterned the card after them.

OSAT_Nov15_Holidays_4

They have all of the same elements as the card, but I added a label cut with the Washi Label Punch to hold the "To From" info.

OSAT_Nov15_Holidays_5

I also punched a hole, and tied a piece of Whisper White Baker's Twine to the tops of the tags.

Can You Case It #94 - A Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome back! I'm here today with a sketch challenge from Can You Case It. This is a really versatile sketch as you'll see by all of the team's cards this week.

CYCI94

Plaid is all the rage now, so I decided to make my own version for the background of this card. First I stamped the Brushstrokes Clear-Mount Background Stamp in Smoky Slate both vertically and horizontally. Then, I added the rest of the stripes with markers, Real Red thick stripes and Basic Black thin stripes. I tied Real Red 1/4" Cotton Ribbon, Silver 1/8" Ribbon and black embroidery thread around the background and mounted it to the card with dimensional adhesive.

CYCI94_Full

To finish off the card I stamped the greeting from Holly Jolly Greetings Clear-Mount Stamp Set in Real Red ink, and added some Rhinestone Basic Jewels .

Playing along with Global Design Project #9

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm sharing a card I made for the design challenge over at Global Design Project. They have a lovely color challenge today.

GDP009 Challenge

I was tempted to make a Christmas card, but decided on a birthday card instead. I made the plaid background myself. First I sponged Mint Macaron ink in the stripes mask from the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks. Then, I used two markers to add more lines, using the thicker end of the Tip Top Taupe ink and the thinner end for two lines of Watermelon Wonder ink. I really like how this turned out! And look, I snuck in another card using the Silhouettes & Script Clear-Mount Stamp Set again!

GDP009-Full

I cut two tags from Tip Top Taupe cardstock and punched the ends with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch, then tied them together with the Watermelon Wonder 1" Dotted Lace Trim. I added some Silver Metallic Thread and some leftover sequins to complete the card, and trimmed out the stamped hat and greeting and popped them up on Stampin' Dimensionals. There is also a circle of the white polka-dot patterned paper from the Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper. I decided to leave it uncolored, and you can just barely see in the photo below that it adds just a little texture to the card.

GDP009-Detail

Well that is all for today. I have another plaid project on Sunday, so I hope you'll join me then. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #93 - Designers Choice Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm here to share my next creation for the Can You Case It Designer's Choice Challenge. Our theme this week is Fall related using any products for any type of project! Autumn has really been showing off her beautiful colors on the trees and bushes here in the Chicagoland area over the past few weeks. So, this is the perfect time for this challenge!

CYCI93

Here is my card for this week. I went back to a set from the main Stampin' Up! catalog called For All Things Clear-Mount Stamp Set. I used Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red inks. For each leaf, I stamped in a lighter color, sponged the top edges with a darker color, spritzed it with water and then stamped. The orange/red leaf is cut out by hand, and then adhered to the card front. For the greeting, I colored the acorns with Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand, spritzed with water and then stamped. The greeting is stamped in Early Espresso and the circle is mounted on Early Espresso Cardstock as well. The card base is Crumb Cake, and the other color I used was Very Vanilla.

CYCI93_Full

I accented my card with the wood leaves from the Into The Woods Elements, Linen Thread and some flicked Early Espresso ink using my Aqua Painter. Now I have a beautiful card to send to a friend to let them know I am thinking about them.

CYCI93_Detail

I thought I would also share a couple of my favorite pictures from this autumn season. These were taken with my iPhone 6, and not my DSLR camera. This was last Sunday when the sun was shining and the colors were getting to their peak. That's my furry buddy Monty out with me for our daily walk.

20151025_132552887_iOS

I love how many different colors the maple trees display.

20151025_131556181_iOS

And, one more with the sun streaming through the trees.

20151025_132020772_iOS

That's all for today. I hope you'll join us at Can You Case It and share a fall creation of your own. Thanks for stopping by!
