Can You Case It #76 - 2015 In Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share for our next Can You Case It design team challenge. This time it's a color combo, and we were to use some of the new 2015-2017 In Colors along with neutrals. I'm enjoying using these new colors. It's always fun to have something new to get creative with!

CYCI76

For my card I used three of the new colors including Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon and Tip Top Taupe. I also used some of the new Whisper White Thick Cardstock. It's great to use for card bases as I've done here. I also stamped the first pear image, masked it and stamped a second. For the banner piece, I inked Congrats in Tip Top Taupe, stamped it off, and then stamped it multiple times across in rows. It was a little time consuming, but I love how it turned out.

CYCI76_1

I added some patterned papers from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack, some sequins, and a tag with the new Tip Top Taupe 1" Dotted Lace Trim tied at the top. I copied the layout of this great card from Inge Groot that I had added to my Pinterest board. I think one of my favorite things about this card is that there is lots of color, layering and texture, but there is also a nice amount of white space for the eye to rest on.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you'll join us at Can You Case It, and share your creation made with these fresh new colors! Thanks for stopping by.

Playing Along with Virginia's View Ombre Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share that I'll be posting to Virginia's View Challenge Blog where there is currently an ombre or monochromatic challenge going on.

VVChallenge15

I decided to use my Creative Elements set one more time, even though it has been retired. I do like this swirly image, and I heat embossed it in clear onto Shimmer White Cardstock. I water-colored around that in Pool Party ink, making the ink on the left side darker and the right side lighter with more water. Then, I water-colored in the thick parts of the swirl with Calypso Coral ink, making it darker from right to left. I stamped a border stamp along the left side, and added a die-cut and stamped greeting.

OmbreChallenge1

The final touches were some pleated and bowed ribbon and colored pearls.

Well, that is all for today. Go and take a look at the gorgeous projects at Virginia's View! Thanks for stopping by.

Can You Case It #74 - Summer Fun Edition!

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm back with the next challenge over at the Can You Case It challenge blog. We are all sharing projects that celebrate summer and fun! I could use a little more summer heat around here, I tell you. I guess maybe I should be careful what I wish for, but Friday was rainy and cool at 65 degrees. That's not my idea of summer! So, maybe my bright and sunny card will bring on the warm weather. At the very least, it should brighten someone's day!

CYCI74

So, here it is. I started by painting watercolor shimmer paints through the sunshine mask from the retired Hooray It's Your Day Project Kit. I used three different colors, and blended them together for each ray. I matted that with Calypso Coral Cardstock, added a layer of Vanilla Coaster Board and attached it to a Daffodil Delight card base. The main stamp was inked in Daffodil Delight, and then I used the rock-and-roll technique to add some Calypso Coral ink to the edges of the sun image.

I trimmed the sun image out, and adhered it with Stampin' Dimensionals to the card with some of the new Gold Thread behind it. A few gold sequins from the Gold Sequin Trim and the new Metallics Sequins completed the card.

The sun rays were water-colored on the Shimmer White Cardstock, which I just love for water-coloring. Plus, these paints have lots of shimmer on their own too. You can see it a little bit in this photo, but it's even more shimmery in person.

Well, that is all for today. I hope you'll join us over at CYCI and share a summery project of your own! Thanks for stopping by.

OSAT Blog Hoppers Happy Father's Day!

Hello and welcome back! Today I am joining in a new-to-me blog hop sponsored by the One Stamp At a Time group. This month's theme is something masculine to help celebrate Father's Day, and we were to make both a card and some other type of item. You might have just arrived from Debra's blog.

OSAT Blog Hop Logo

I kept my card pretty simple. I masked the edges of the card, and then sponged four colors of ink to make a grass and sky landscape look. Top to bottom, I used Watermelon Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party and Old Olive. I stamped the hill in Crumb Cake and the tree trunk and greeting in Soft Suede. The leaves were stamped repeatedly in Old Olive.

OSAT_Jun15_CloseUp

I used Crumb Cake Cardstock for the card base, and some linen thread completes the card.

OSAT_Jun15_Full

I made a gift card holder out of the Crumb Cake Cardstock and the Gift Card Thinlits Dies. I also cut the white circles with these dies, and used the mini silver brads to tie the Linen Thread to.

OSAT_Jun15_GiftCardBack

I used the same sponged ink technique, colors and stamps on a white panel that was adhered to the front of the gift card holder.

Playing Along with TGIFC06 Watercolor Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm playing along with the Watercolor challenge over at TGIF Challenges Blog.

Tgifc06

This card was inspired by a card I saved to Pinterest found here. I wanted to include the light watercolor background, the die cut flowers and the border along the left side of the card. My watercolor background was made with Daffodil Delight and Pool Party inks smooshed onto a clear stamping block, spritzed with water and applied to a piece of Shimmer White cardstock. Each of the flower stamps was inked, spritzed with water and then stamped onto Shimmer White Cardstock. After that, I die cut each image, and traced around the outside edge with the Project Life Journaling Pen in the .01 size. Love how these all turned out.

TGIFC06_Front

A piece of Basic Black patterned paper from the Neutrals Paper Stack forms the border on the left edge. The greeting was white embossed on a piece of Basic Black Cardstock. A few Basic Black Candy Dots complete the card. Two of the flowers are popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals, and the greeting is popped up with two layers of dimensionals.

Well, that's all for today. I have lots to share this week! Thanks for stopping by.

Playing along with TGIFCTD01 and FMS189

Hello and welcome back! Today I have a card to share that I'm entering in two different challenges. The first is Freshly Made Sketches 189. Love this sketch. I substituted a butterfly for the circle shape in the sketch.

FMS189

I also am entering this into the TGIF Challenges Blog's first Throw-Down challenge. This is a fun challenge like the food show where you can have a "pantry" of basic crafting supplies and a "basket"  of 5-6 other items that change with each challenge.

Tgifctd01

So, here is my creation for this challenge. I'll have to admit, it was hard not to have colored cardstock or patterned paper to use. So, I spritzed the larger rectangle with Blushing Bride ink, and then stamped the circles in the same color but full strength ink. For the small rectangle, I spritzed with Blackberry Bliss ink, and then stamped the first part of the greeting in the full strength ink. I also dripped some of the Blackberry Bliss ink onto the card base from the Stampin' Spritzer.

TGIFCTD01_full

To complete the card, I die cut a butterfly from the Gold Foil Cardstock, and also die cut the "you" part of the greeting form the same Gold Foil. I little White Baker's Twine was the final detail. The purple piece is also popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals. I think I actually used all of the "basket" items for this challenge. I used Neenah 80lb. cardstock for this since it's heavy enough to make a good card base.

TGIFCTD01_close

Well, that is all for today. You'll find the supplies listed below. I'll have some more challenge entries and a blog hop to share later this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #73 - Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! It's time for another challenge over at Can You Case It, and this one is a color challenge. You'll love the variety of projects that our team came up with this week. These colors can be soft and romantic, or more clean and graphic looking. I went more in the clean and graphic direction this time.

CYCI73

Here is my card. I had fun mixing a lot of different patterns together including a text patterned paper, a floral stamped cardstock shape and a striped pattern I made with watercolor and markers on white cardstock. To make the stripes, I watercolored Sahara Sand ink in quarter inch stripes every half an inch. Then, I added a thin stripe of black ink using the .01 Project Life Marker and another stripe of Blushing Bride using the brush tip of the marker. I love how this turned out, so I'm sure I'll be using this technique again in the future.

CYCI73_Fabulous1

I popped up the label shaped greeting on Stampin' Dimensionals, added a little pile of white thread under it and two rhinestones to the center of the flowers to complete the card.

CYCI73_Fabulous2

Well, that is all for today! Hope you are having a terrific weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

Playing Along with TGIF Challenges 5 Remix

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm playing along with the TGIF Challenge site and their remix challenge. The idea was to choose two of their first four challenges, and combine them to inspire a new project. I decided to use the two challenges that I hadn't used yet to make my card.

Tgifc05_Remix

The two challenges I chose were the sketch challenge and the inspiration challenge. I those the colors and the floral theme from the inspiration image.

Tgifc02 Tgifc04

Here is my card. I spritzed the background layer with Daffodil Delight ink mixed with alcohol. For the banner piece, I sponged on Daffodil Delight, Watermelon Wonder and Blackberry Bliss inks to form a gradient pattern. The bottom is punched, and some new Watermelon Wonder Lace Trim was added in a bow.

TGIFC05_Remix1

For the floral image, I colored it with markers in Watermelon Wonder, Blackberry Bliss and Pear Pizzazz. The greeting is stamped and white embossed on Blackberry Bliss Cardstock. I also used the Vanilla Coaster Board to add some dimension behind both the banner piece and the oval. I used Shimmer Cardstock for all of the white layers and the spritzed Daffodil layer.

TGIFC05_Remix2

Well, that is all for today! You can find details about this challenge and join in yourself by clicking here. Thanks for stopping by.
