CYCI 58 - Designers Choice Challenge
February 22, 2015
Hello, and welcome back! This week at the Can You Case It blog, it's a Designer's Choice challenge. I decided to play around with one of my favorite techniques, watercolor ink "smooshing" and to play with some leftovers from one of my Paper Pumpkin kits.
To make the patterned paper for the stars, I smashed my ink pads in Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay and Pistachio Pudding onto the back of my large clear stamp block. Then, I spritzed it with water, and placed a quarter piece of Shimmer White cardstock into the wet ink. I swirled it around, lifted it up and then dried it with my heat embossing tool. I die cut the larger star, and punched out the two smaller stars. The card base is Smoky Slate, and I added the Pistachio Pudding star cutout piece that is leftover from the December 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit, which is covered with a piece of Vellum Cardstock of the same size. Next, I took one strand of the Pistachio Pudding Thick Baker's Twine, threaded it on a needle, and for each sequin (also from the December 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit) I threaded it through and back through again to keep the sequin in place. I had four sequins on each row, and wrapped it around my card front three times. I used some clear tape to secure the threads on the inside.
After the threaded sequins, I stamped the greeting (also from the December 2014 Paper Pumpkin kit) in Bermuda Bay, and then adhered all three stars with Stampin' Dimensionals. Let me know if you would like to see a brief tutorial on the ink smooshing technique or the strands of sequins, and I'll post one soon.
Well, that's all for today. I hope you will join us over at Can You Case It blog to share a project of your own! Every week we select a winner, and we enjoy seeing everyone creations. Thanks for letting us inspire you today!
