OCC Clean & Simple 4 - Faux Tile Card 2

Hello and welcome back! Today I have another card to share using the Faux Tile technique from Online Card Classes Clean & Simple 4. Last time I used the Coaster Board from Stampin' Up, but it's a little too thin and slightly textured for this technique. So, I stopped at my local craft store, and purchased some white smooth finish mat board. I cut it into some squares, and used my flower die cuts to cut in the shape. I used the regular sandwich in the die cutting machine, which cuts into the mat board but not all the way through it. Then, I sponged some retired craft ink and some newer classic ink onto the different areas of the design (Cameo Coral and Daffodil Delight Craft and Coastal Cabana Classic). Then, it's heat embossed with clear embossing powder three times.

Here you can see how shiny the piece is, and how it looks like a tile. I love this technique, and recommend pigment inks as they give a better coverage of color. I finished the card with a couple of strands of Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker's Twine, the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper and a greeting in Soft Suede ink from the Best Day Ever Stamp Set. I think the next time I try this technique, I'll make the main tile a little smaller.

Well, that's all for today. I'll have more class "homework" cards to share soon, and some additional Simply Pressed Clay samples as well. Thanks for stopping by!
