Betsy's Friday Challenge

I used my Silhouette to cut a bunch of cute pink bunnies and yellow chicks to make Easter cards with. I made several can check out my new Etsy site with some of them! Anyway, I had a handful of die cuts left on my table, and didn't know what to do with them. Then along came Betsy's challenge...great! I also had some scraps of leftover paper, etc. I think this "leftover" card turned out to be one of my favorites. I hope you like it too.

Scrapbooking and Another Diecut Title

I have been trying to use my Silhouette machine more lately. I have been cutting titles and shapes for scrapbook pages as well as items for cards. I made this layout of a Sox game that I went to with my buddies Tiffany and Janie last September. I didn't really have any font dies on hand that I wanted to use, but I was able to find a font on my laptop that I could use. I love that the Silhouette can change the scale also to match whatever project I am working on.

Because I used so many pictures on this layout, I decided to drop color saturation so that it didn't seem too busy. Plus, I think it gives it a cool look that matches the theme and colors of the home team. Enjoy!

Moxie Fab-Picking Up the Pieces Challenge

I like to follow several blogs for creative inspiration. I follow all kinds of blogs from other crafters, photographers, print and design blogs and a few of the card/scrapbook magazine blogs. I like the MoxieFab blog because Cath seems to feature a little bit of all of these categories in her posts. The most recent challenge was to use paper piecing, either for a focal point or a background. I recently created a set of thank-you cards for a an expectant mom at work. I figure that all new moms could use thank-you cards, right? Anyway, I pieced the sun, sky and grass, and used two different stamped critters along with a stamped tree. Enjoy!

Gingerbread Houses

I finished another 2 page spread yesterday all about my family making Gingerbread Houses this past Christmas. This was took me a while to complete. I knew I wanted to include several pictures, but they were all busy and the color was a little dull. I applied a color action to them (the Creamy Toffee Latte action) from The CoffeeShop Blog. It kicked up the color, and also made them seem kind of dreamy which was perfect for the theme. I also used my Silhouette to complete this layout. I cut the scalloped squares (which are cropped for the corners of the pages), the gingerbread house and the welded font words (that I created myself) all on the Silhouette! The left pages was inspired by a layout from a book called The Designing With Recipe Book. I'll share the card that has my original sketch  too. I'm really happy with the results. Hope you enjoy it!

Welcome Baby

Today I have another scrapbook layout to post. These are more pictures of the first time I met my friend Carla's baby girl. She is sooooo cute! The original pictures were a little dark, so I worked on them before adding them to my layout. I'm proud of myself because I used some fabric as the main background element on this layout. This is Basic Grey's Sultry charm pack (pieces of 5" square fabric). I stitched the pieces to the very vanilla cardstock first. Then, I cross-stitched by hand the photos to the fabric background, and attached it to the layout. I also cross-stitched the title to the page after attaching the photo block. A few stamped and layered floral embellishments and it is ready to be added to my album! Enjoy...

Homemade Embellishments #2

So, I had so much fun with the challenges during Papertrey Ink's anniversary celebration that I decided to make another set of them, but with different colors. I have more fun making these from scratch, and I'm less likely to horde them since I have all of the pieces to make more. Anyway, I'll just share the embellies now, and maybe a project using them at a later time. Enjoy!

Back to Scrapbooking

Wow...I can't believe it has been a month since I have posted anything! Well, that's what happens when you work for an accounting firm...and it's tax season...and the work spills over into the nights sometimes. Anyway, I have managed to carve out some time to create over the last month, but not to post until now. I think I have mentioned before that I wanted to get back to scrapbooking again. I think I have 5 large boxes of cards made now...LOL! So, I decided to make a cute and girly page using pictures of my friends' Mike and Carla's baby Ronnie. Isn't she so adorable? I had fun using lots of different papers, tags and stamps, and embellishments both homemade and purchased. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the page, and make time to create something fun this week!
