Color Challenge #44

It's time for another Color Challenge from Kristina Werner's blog.  I love these!  She finds some great color combinations.  I have one more card I'm working on, but I want to sew a border with my sewing machine which isn't set up at the moment.  So, I'll share it tomorrow.  Anyway, I pulled out some paper that I bought from SEI last August at the Scrapbook Expo and one of my favorite Stampin' Up sets Kind Thoughts.  Hope you like it!

Inspired by Autumn Leaves calendar

Every year for the past couple of years I purchase the Autumn Leaves calendar. They had so many inspiring ideas.  I used the same basic design and color scheme from one of the calendar pages for the following cards. Plus, I got to use one of my favorite Stampin' Up! sets...Kind Thoughts. I can't believe that they retired it this past December! Oh well, it is still safe here in my stamping supply, and won't be going anywhere soon. Enjoy!

Previous Catalog CASE

I cased these two cards from the previous Fall-Winter 2008 Catalog on pages 56-57. I really like their layouts and the use of the stamps. I didn't have the same sets, so I used something similar. I loved the color scheme also. So, without further ado...

Nature Cards

I don't think I have ever posted these, so I thought I would share them now. I made them this past summer while on vacation. As is sometimes the case, I took way too many supplies with me. But, I did enjoy making these cards. I think next time I will take either just a kit or just stamps and watercoloring supplies. Taking everything needed to make a card is too much! Plus, I think I am forced to be more creative when I have fewer supplies with me.  Anyway, I hope you enjoy them.

Craft Weekend and New Papertrey Stamps!

So, I spent Saturday and Sunday morning at my friend Tiffany's house with Janie crafting the weekend away.  I was productive, but less in quantity than quality.  ;-)  I made multiples of 3 different cards and started a 3-D project.  One of the cards and the 3-D project are for the Stampin' Up! Artisan Award contest, so I will be saving them to send in to Stampin' Up! in April.  The other 2 cards were made using the new stamp sets I received from Paper Trey Ink: Warm Happines and Guidelines.  This one started out as a sketch on a piece of paper.

KW Challenge #43 -- Bold Colors!

Another color challenge was posted over at Kristina Werner's blog.  My first thought was that these were some powerful bold colors!  How to use them???

Then, I looked at the patterns in the photo, and noticed the stripes, circles and argyle which inspired me.  So, here is what I came up with.  I made the first one at my friend Tiffany's house this morning, and the other 3 when I got home this afternoon.  I had a hard time getting going at Tiff's, but once I started working with this combo I kept getting more ideas!  I just needed some of my supplies at home to finish them.  This first one gave me a chance to use the new SU set Man's Best Friend.  I think the doggy on the left looks a lot like my Monty (see the first blog post for yourself!).

I got the inspiration for this simple card from one of my many idea books...yes, I'm an idea book junkie!  Anyway, it's very simple but I really like how it turned out.

When I saw the argyle, I thought of this stamp set.  A few markers later, and I had myself some argyle!  I think I may have my Father's Day card already done for the year.  ;-)

Well, the ground-hog was right, at least for those of us in northern Illinois.  It is frigid today.  The wind chills must be pretty low.  I did take Monty for a short trip to the off-leash park to drain some of his energy.  Anyway, the cold made me want to use this new set I just received from  Papertrey Ink called Warm Happiness.  I'm liking this set, which means you'll see more of it soon.  ;-)
