Can You Case It #89 - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm back with another challenge card for Can You Case It! This week we have a great sketch to start with. I love starting with a sketch. Our team came up with lots of creative interpretations of this sketch that I think you will enjoy!

I started with a watercolor panel, and trimmed it into different width strips. I though it would be fun to back this with a bold print of Basic Gray striped paper.

The colors I used are Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder and Rich Razzleberry. I wet the watercolor paper really well, and then added each color one at a time, blending between colors. I also used the Greetings Thinlits Dies for the word "cheers" which is cut 3 times from Basic Black Cardstock and glued together with the Fine-Tip Glue Pen. I added some Silver Metallic Thread, and some silver and gray sequins that were leftover from my Paper Pumpkin Kits.

Can You Case It #88 - Designers Choice Challenge

Hello and welcome back. Today our Can You Case It site features Designers Choice projects, meaning we can make whatever we want! So you are sure to see lots of variety in this week's projects.

I chose to play again with the Thankful Forest Friends Clear-Mount Stamp Set. I can't get enough of those cute critters! This time I stamped them, and cut them out using the scan and cut feature of my Silhouette Cameo! It took a little while to set up the first time, but the results were great. I got a nice close trim to my stamped critters. I used two different embossing folders to make my scene: the trees are embossed Very Vanilla Cardstock using the Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the hill is embossed Old Olive Cardstock using the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I love how this turned out! The texture really adds to the scene without overpowering it. I also highlighted the tree trunks with Sahara Sand ink using a sponge dauber. The patterned paper strip on the right is from the Into The Woods Designer Series Paper pack, that I sponged with additional Old Olive Classic Ink. This was a tip that they showed us at Convention, to color the white background of the paper. I love the way these patterns look when they are sponged!

The greeting is from the Cupcake Party Clear-Mount Stamp Set. I stamped it in our new Classic Basic Black ink onto the Kraft Cardstock, and stamped the Hardwood Clear-Mount Stamp Set in Versamark ink. This was punched out with the Washi Label Punch and set atop of a piece of Sahara Sand Cardstock also stamped in Versamark Ink with the Hardwood stamp. To add to the dimension of the project, I mounted the sign portion on Stampin' Dimensionals, added Stampin' Dimensionals to the fox and added two layers of dimensionals to the rabbit. The other colors of ink I stamped for the animals were Early Espresso, Tangelo Twist and Sahara Sand.

I even decorated the inside of the card! The greeting is from the Big News Photopolymer Clear-Mount Stamp Set, and the little branch was colored with markers and then stamped. It's from the Thankful Forest Friends Clear-Mount Stamp Set.

Can You Case It #87 - Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! I'm here today with a color challenge from Can You Case It! This was a color challenge using any three shades of blue with neutrals. I used Soft Sky, Pool Party and Lost Lagoon with Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede and Early espresso.

Cyci87

I'm still having fun creating with this Thankful Forest Friends stamp set. The little animals are so cute! I colored just the word "thanks" in the two darker shades of brown, and left of the rest of the greeting off, finishing it off with some brown sewing thread. The top stamped branch was colored with markers, and I highlighted the acorns and some of the leaves with Crystal Effects. I also use a wood acorn accent from the Into To The Woods Elements.

For the "ground" that the bear is standing on, I used a piece from the Sleigh Ride Edgelits Die, and trimmed off the tree section. Also, the greeting is punched out with the Washi Label Punch and popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Can You Case It #85 - Color Challenge

Hello and welcome back! Today I'm back with the next challenge over at Can You Case It. This is a color challenge using shades of yellow, blue and brown.

CYCI85

I've been making birthday cards left and right, which is good because they are the main type of card that I need to send out! And look, I might have used my one of my favorite stamp sets...again. It's the Silhouettes & Script Clear Mount Stamp Set from Stampin' Up. I sponged ink through a striped mask for the yellow stripe layer. Then I added a white tag shaped with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, and finished with a scrap of brown ribbon from my stash. I punched a couple of circles from last year's Sale-a-bration patterned paper, and layered them under the birthday hat and greeting.

CYCI85_Full

I finished the card off with some brown sewing thread and gold sequins as final embellishments. The hat and greeting are also popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Can You Case It #84 - Sketch Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! I'm here today to share another sketch challenge from Can You Case It. I missed last week as I was on a vacation, but I'm back today for all the fun!

Here is the cute sketch. Elizabeth from our Design Team contributed the sketch for this week!

I'm hanging onto summer with all my strength, so I decided to use the Garden In Bloom Photopolymer Stamp Set for my card. I used Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry and Wild Wasabi for this card. In order to get the lighter colors for the first layer, I sponged the ink onto the stamp and then stamped it. Then, the second layer (the more detailed layer) were stamped in full strength ink. This gives a lot of variety in the saturation of the colors as well. I splattered some Melon Mambo ink watered down onto the card front to give the background some interest.

CYCI84_Full

For the butterflies, I sponged on Calypso Coral and then stamped Melon Mambo full strength. Then, I stamped the outline in Versamark ink onto Vellum Cardstock, and heat embossed it with White Embossing Powder. Then, I trimmed out the butterflies by hand and adhered the centers over the stamped butterflies. I used Crumb Cake Cardstock to layer the panels, and Soft Suede to stamp the greeting with. Some white sequins finish off the front.

CYCI84_Detail

I decorated the inside too, with the other half of the saying and some more stamped images. It's really simple, but makes the inside more interesting I think.

Can You Case It #82 - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome back! I'm here today with another Can You Case It Sketch Challenge.

CYCI82

For my background, I sponged Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight and Wild Wasabi, overlapping each color a bit. Then, I die-cut the "thanks", heat embossed it in clear, and glued it back into the background piece. I think this is called an inlay die-cut technique. It's hard to catch the shine of embossing in this photo, but it looks nice in real life.

Cyci82_full

I finished it off with the rest of the sentiment, some punched flowers (from some more Melon Mambo sponged cardstock) and a few rhinestones. Pretty simple, but I love how it turned out.

Can You Case It #81 - Color Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! I'm here to share our next color challenge from Can You Case It. For this challenge we were to use any shade of blue, green and purple along with white.

CYCI81

And here is my card. I applied my three inks (Wild Wasabi, Lost Lagoon and Rich Razzleberry) to a clear block, spritzed it well with water, and then applied the inked block to my paper. Next, I die cut the "thanks" using the Greeting Thinlits Dies. I applied Versamark Ink to the greeting, and then heat embossed it with clear powder. I also die cut 3 more "thanks" from Basic Black Cardstock, and glued them together with the watercolor greeting on top. The background piece was mounted to a piece of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock.

CYCI81_Full

I added in a torn piece of Vellum Cardstock and some white sewing thread below the greeting. Then I completed the card with white round and green star sequins, and popped it up with a layer of Vanilla Coaster Board.

CYCI81_Detail

I had so much fun with my color combo, that I made another simple card with it. For this one, I used my new Watercolor Wings Photopolymer Stamp Set, and the same colors of ink. I used Black Memento ink for the butterfly body and the greeting.

CYCI81_Full_2nd

To complete this card, I added some Basic Black Baker's Twine and some Rich Razzleberry Candy Dots. I popped the top layer up with Stampin' Dimensionals this time.

Can You Case It #80 - Sketch Challenge

Hello and welcome back! I'm back to our weekly challenge after a short break for the annual Stampin' Up! Convention called "Inspire. Create. Share." It was a great few days of vacation in Salt Lake City, and now I'm back to my normal routines. This week is a sketch challenge over at Can You Case It.

CYCI80

I used a new stamp set called Your Presents from the upcoming Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. It's a pretty versatile set, and could also be used for weddings, babies or birthdays as I've done here. Just change up the color of the gift packages that you stamp, and you've got several occasions covered! I also used the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Stack for the Bermuda Bay and balloon patterned papers. The color combo is Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Cucumber Crush, Hello Honey, Pool Party, Watermelon Wonder and Whisper White.

CYCI80_Full

In addition to the cute stamps, I also used Whisper White Baker's Twine and Silver Sequin Trim. Two of the packages were popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Cyci80_Detail1

The greeting was created with the Washi Label Punch and the Alphabet Rotary Stamp.

Well, that is all for today! I have a couple of additional cards that I made at convention with this stamp set, so I'll be back to share them later this week. Thanks for stopping by!

Can You Case It #79 - Designer's Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! This week we are featuring a Convention Edition at Can You Case It. Many of us are on our way soon to the annual Stampin' Up Convention, so this week is a Designer's Choice theme and will be posted for two weeks. So, you have plenty of time to play along!

CYCI79

Since I've been on a watercolor, rainbow and black/white kick I just kept going with this project. To get this look, I smushed my ink pad on my clear block, sprayed it with water, dipped a piece of Window Sheet into the ink and pressed it to my paper. The colors I used were Watermelon Wonder, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzazz and Pool Party. I used the Shimmer White Cardstock, and backed it with Basic Black Cardstock. I adhered it to a Basic Gray card base with Stampin' Dimensionals.

CYCI79-Front

For the focal point, I used a strip of Basic Black striped patterned paper, a strip of Glimmer Paper, a die cut greeting from the Greetings Thinlits Dies in Basic Black Cardstock, some Silver Metallic Thread and some Rhinestone Basic Jewels. I'm really happy with how this turned out, and think it will be a great card to send to brighten someone's day!

Can You Case It #78 - A Color Challenge

Hello, and welcome back! I've got another project to share for this week's color challenge at Can You Case It. Our colors this week are black and white, and one other color of your choice.

CYCI78

I can't stop using Watermelon Wonder! It's definitely my new favorite color, and is helping me miss Strawberry Slush a little less. And, Watermelon Wonder looks great with Basic Black and Whisper White! I used the Crazy about You Clear Mount Stamp Set and coordinating Hello You Thinlits Dies. I also used the Dotty Angles Photopolymer Stamp Set. In order to give it a bit of a gradient look, I used a sponge to remove some of the ink from the top edge of the stamp before stamping onto the cardstock. The hello die-cut is three layers glued together for more dimension.

CYCI78_Front

I added a piece of fringed patterned paper from the Neutrals Designer Series Paper Stack. I love the patterns this year, and it even comes with Silver and Gold Metallic prints! I also added Whisper White Baker's Twin and red sequins from the Brights Sequin Assortment to finish off the card. The white layer is also adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals.

CYCI78_Detail

Well, that is all for today. I hope you will join us at Can You Case It with your own black, white and color creation this week. Thanks for stopping by!
