Welcome
back! So glad you could join me for the Artisan Design Team Facebook
Friday Blog Hop for December 2012. Please check out our individual blogs
for our projects from December that were posted on Facebook by Stampin'
Up. You might have just arrived from Jeanna's blog. Wasn't her project great? Make sure you check it out!
I love using Stampin' Up!'s Designer Fabric and our exclusive dies to make home decor projects. This month's box was loaded with scrapbook goodies and fabric to create with. I had made a set of embroidery hoops for my Artisan Design Team entry. I was able to make a coordinating set of winter themed Embroidery Hoop Art using these supplies and some of the exclusive art from My Digital Studio as a pattern. I also love using the 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and Vintage Faceted Buttons to add fun dimensional details to the pieces. Here they all are together. The hoops are 12", 10", 8", 6" and 4" in diameter.
The 12" hoop has trees made with the Perfect Pennant Bigz Die triangles in different sizes, and stacked together. I used felt for the snow at the bottom of the piece. Each piece of fabric was backed with the Big Shot Adhesive Roll, die cut, and then stitched down. I stitched the trunks first, then the triangles from the bottom layer up, and then the felt snow.
The 10" hoop has different sized rectangles used as presents. I created this design in My Digital Studio first, printed it out and then cut patterned pieces for the rectangles. I stitched down the green and blue presents first, and then the red one. I received a great pack of ribbon, and used two colors of 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and one color of 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon to add to the presents. I just stitched at the top and bottom of the straight piece, and then down the middle of the bow tying it after.
The 8" hoop was made with the Snow Flurry Bigz Die. I cut the snowflakes from white felt and lace. I stitched them into place down the middle of each snowflake arm. I also added the Vintage Faceted Buttons in the middle of the snowflakes for some sparkle. It's hard to see them in the photo, but it adds a lot in person.
The 6" hoop has a two layer dove using the Elegant Bird Die, cut from the blue patterned Beua Chateau fabric and then lace. The fabric had the Big Shot Adhesive Roll ironed on first before die cutting it. The lace I just pinned down, and stitched over the fabric bird after it was ironed onto the background. So, both layers were stitched together one time.
The 4" hoop I made to look lilke a peppermint! I used the pepperming image from the Sweets for the Sweet digital stamp set, enlarged it to 4" and printed it out. There were more sections of red and white on the original image, so I combined a few of them so the fabric patches wouldln't be so small. I also added a Regals Designer button in Cherry Cobbler in the center to match the polka dot fabric.
Well, I hope you enjoyed these projects! Thanks for stopping by. Please be sure to click the button below to check out Sarah's lovely project. Enjoy!
