Artisan Design Team Projects for September 2012 Part 3

Blog Artisan Button-001

Welcome to the continuation of my Artisan Design Team projects for September, 2012! Today I am featuring the Halloween products that I received this month. I love the Houndstooth and Scaringbone Designer Series Paper. So many cute patterns! It's still a little early to find actual Halloween candy in the stores (although I saw them clearing the aisles at the big box stores the other day), so I "scared" up some treats: apple flavored soda, candy coated sunflower seeds and healthy (no artifical dies) gummy fish. I had a lot of fun with the Monster Munchies stamp set, the Googlies (eyes) and stamping on the new cotton ribbon.

SU-Artisan-Sept12-3D1

I cut the label piece here with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits Dies, stamped and trimmed out the spider image, added the Googlies, punched holes in the label and ran the cotton ribbon through the holes, adhering it to the back of the bottle. It's hard to see from this angle, but the ribbon has the Halloween words from the Border Banter set stamped in two rows in Tangerine Tango ink. I should get a better picture of it!

SU-Artisan-Sept12-3D2

These little cellos bags make everything look cute! I can't take credit for using the brads on the Frankie head. I know I saw it somewhere before. The 1 1/4" square punch is just the right size to punch out the Frankie image.

SU-Artisan-Sept12-3D3

Here is my chevron stamped ribbon. Pretty sure I'll be doing that again in a variety of colors! I used a circle of Tangerine Tango Designer patterned Paper behind the Apothecary Accents label, and then used glimmer brads to adhere the pieces together.

Blog Artisan Button-001

Welcome to the continuation of my Artisan Design Team projects for September, 2012! I have a box full of fall and Halloween products to feature this month. Jars are a hot trend right now in the crafting market as well as the home decor market. Here are some fun things from Pinterest to prove it!

A mason jar chandelier:

Jar candle holders:

So glad SU included this trendy element in their Perfectly Preserved stamp set! And, I love the matching dies. And, I love that you can purchase them in a bundle. I have to say also that the Orchard Harvest Designer Series Paper is really beautiful in person. I made a few cards with these supplies to share with you today. You might recognize the sunflower from the scrapbook page I shared yesterday. Couldn't stop making them...with some variations of course! (There is another one further down in this post.) I stamped the jar on vellum cardstock, added some linen thread around it, a label and a punched and embossed sunflower, this time with a wood button on top.

For this card, I thought it would be fun to stamp the jar with Stazon ink onto a Window Sheet, so it is clear like the real thing. I also added some brads, some baker's twine and popped up the larger flower on Stampin' Dimensionals. I think the patterned paper makes this card.

For this card, I turned out another sunflower, this time with Glimmer Brads for the center. For the leaves, I die cut them from the Gumball Green Co'ordinations cardstock, folded them in half and then ran them through the Woodgrain Embossing folder. Then, I sanded them to reveal the pattern. I love how the fold in the center becomes the vein of the leaf! The center of the sunflower is from the Early Espresso Co'ordinations cardstock and the same Woodgrain Embossing folder.

Artisan Design Team Projects for September 2012 Part 1

Blog Artisan Button-001

Welcome to the beginning of my Artisan Design Team projects for September, 2012! Stampin' Up! sent me a box full of fall and Halloween products to feature this month. One of my favorite things about the fall is that apples are in season. I make a mean apple pie from scratch! There are a few apple farms in my part of the country. So I visit at least once every fall to pick and/or buy fresh apples, and take home some other goodies including apple cider, apple spice donuts and apple bbq sauce. Yummy! The best apple I have ever eaten was a Fuji that I had just picked off of the tree. It was so fresh, crisp and sweet...just "ripe"! That's right...I'm punny like that. Anyway, these pictures are from a trip to the farm last year in September. I stitched together some die cut apples to make a banner for the title area. I printed the title and journaling on vellum cardstock. The center of the sunflower is the Early Espresso Co'ordinations cardstock that I embossed with the woodgrain folder and sanded to reveal the pattern. You'll see this again in my other projects!

SU-Artisan-Sept12-Scrap1

This year I have yet to make it to the farm. The trees were hit hard by a late freeze after an early warming period in the spring. So, their crop is less than the previous year. I'm still hoping to be able to purchase some apples off the farm this coming weekend.

What is your favorite thing about fall?

Happy Birthday...to me!

It's been a little quiet here on the blog, but I have been busy creating some cards for submission to various magazines. This time around they weren't picked up for publication, but that means I can share what I've been up to right away! Since today is my birthday, I thought I would share a birthday card. This one was inspired by a piece I made in August for my Artisan Design Team projects. I used the same scallopped border concept to make an ombre  border. The rows of Summer Starfruit are sponged vellum cardstock, spritz inked white linen fabric and Summer Starfruit cardstock distressed and pulled in half. The scallops were cut with the Tasteful Trim die. I also used some SU fabric to tie around the middle of the card, and double as the ribbon tails for the birthday stamped image.

I'll be back this week with some more cards to share, and next week I'll be posting my September projects for the Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team. You can check out the rest of the design team's projects so far: EricaJaneHeidiCindy and Wendy.

A Card for The Minty Fresh Challenge

I have one more card to share today. My creative buddy Tiffany came over on Saturday for some crafting time. We both made a few projects for upcoming challenges and submission calls. I follow the Moxie Fab Word blog, and one of their current challenges is The Minty Fresh Challenge.

I loved the inspiration picture of the cake that she featured, and that was my main inspiration. I also love the Vintage Jadeite and the Watercolor Peony Wallpaper. It was a thoroughly inspiring post!

And, here is my card. I loved the layers of mint on the cake with little beaded egdes, and the flowers. I used Stampin' Up's Pool Party cardstock, their Paper Flowers and accented it all with Summer Starfruit ribbon, ink sponged on the flowers and a Glimmer Brad in Gold. I've been using the Itty Bitty Banners set and the matching dies on everything lately!

Hello Butterflies!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day today! It has been a warm and sunny summer, and one that I really enjoyed. So, in honor of that I have one more bright and sunny project for this last day of "summer". I have another card to share today. This is a CASE of a card that was in the Stamp It idea book by Kalyn Kepner. She had a beautiful Mother's Day card with butterflies fluttering across it and a small label image with the greeting. It was the perfect excuse for me to get out my Pappilon Potpourri set, and create some of my own butterflies!

I have already received my next box of goodies from Stampin' Up for September's Artisan Design Team projects. So, there are sure to be some Autumn and Halloween projects showing up this month. I'll be posting those the last week of September. I'll also have some other projects to share this month. Thanks for visiting, and hope to see you here again soon!

Artisan Design Team Facebook Friday for August 2012

Well, it was almost Facebook Friday! I missed it by a couple days this time. You may have already seen this project on the Stampin' Up Facebook page. One project from each of the Design Team will be published on the Stampin' Up Facebook page towards the end of each month. After it has posted there, I'll be able to share the project on my blog also.

And, from there, I will pin it to our 2012 Artisan Design Team group board on Pinterest. If you would like to follow us on Pinterest, go here. The whole team posted their winning projects to this board, our Artisan Finalist Swap cards, and our August Design Team monthly projects (which we will be pinning going forward).

Now, onto the card! I had fun putting the Designer Series Paper behind the circles and stitching around them, and also making the little pennants to tuck in. So happy that I had some flat toothpicks! They work really well for these small pennants on cards. I also popped the banners on the right with Stampin' Dimensionals. I actually had the idea for this card while I was at convention in July. I scribbled a quick template in my convention booklet one day when it came to me. I'm weird like that!
