Back to scrapbooking

Two weekends ago, I spent Saturday with my buddies Janie and Tiff paper crafting.  I have been wanting to get back to scrapbooking, but it seems that I never have my pictures printed or sorted into an order for pages I want to make.  So, before the weekend I printed off some pictures and planned out some pages!  I was so excited about making pages again.  Janie usually creates at least one scrapbook page, so she inspired me to do the same.  Here are two of the pages I made, the ones I completed.  I have another two page spread about my new car and my previous cars, but I have to find two more pictures to complete it.  More on that later.  Without further ado, here are my two creations!

Raspberry Suite Color Challenge #12

Welcome back to my blog! So, I just downloaded some new Quickutz Silhouette designs, and decided to try out one of the funky flowers with Dawn's latest color challenge.  I cheated a little, and used some chocolate brown for the stem, but the rest of the colors are "by the book"! And, I decided that it was time to use a different size and shape than the standard card. So, this one is a 5 1/4" square.

KWerner Design Color Challenge #56

I finally have the time to join in another KWerner Color Challenge!  I decided to use a flower set that hasn't seen ink in a while.  It needed some love. ;-)  It's called Petal Pushers, and is a retired Stampin' Up set.  I love flowers!  Anyway, I hope you enjoy it.

SU Artisan Awards Scrapbook Pages

Here are the scrapbook pages that I submitted for the 2009 Artisan Award contest.  I think they would have turned out better if I could have used the retired alphabets that I wanted to use!  I'll do so on my copies of the layouts.  Anyway, here they are.  I hope you enjoy them!

The first layout has pictures of both sets of my grandparents and my parents on their wedding days (or early in their married life).  It was fun seeing all of the pictures next to each other!

SU Artisan Awards 3D Projects

Here are the 3D projects that I made for the Stampin' Up Artisan Awards.  Even though I didn't win, I did enjoy making these projects.  I'm going to recreate the "dzinesbymeg" item for my craft room, but using different colors.

To make the accordion "meg" item, I cut the On Board Longboard into 4x6 pieces, and used the jumbo eyelets and hemp twine to connect them.  I made a triangle of cardstock, and covered it with patterned paper and chipboard letters for the "by" and then stamped the "dzines" in the big deal alphabet in versamark on kraft paper.  I stitched over the letters with basic grey taffeta ribbon.  I hope you liked it!

3D Item #1-Stamps: Big Deal Alphabet (for ribbon stitching template); Ink: Classic Sahara Sand, Craft Chocolate Chip; Paper: Confetti White, Urban Garden DSP, Urban Oasis DSP, Kraft, Baja Breeze Textured, Baja Breeze Patterns DSP, Kiwi Kiss Patterns DSP, Hand Drawn Bundle DSP; Accessories: Silver Brads, Pretties Kit, Cropadile, Basic Gray Taffeta Ribbon, Scallop Edge Punch, On Board Lots of Letters, Flower Fusion Too, Kiwi Kiss Corduroy Brad, Sticky Cuts Letters, Fine Supernova Stampin’ Glitter, Jumbo Eyelets Pewter, Natural Hemp Twine, white thread, Button Bouquet, Sizzlit Little Leaves Die, Bigz Beautiful Butterflies Die, Trio Flower Punch

I created a roll-a-dex with a calendar and 3 pages behind each month for birthdays, holidays and other occasions.  I thought it would be fun to keep this near my card stash, and plan out cards and gifts to send to friends and family.  I used the Sizzix Bigz Die of a clear address card, to make all of the cards for this project.

SU Artisan Awards Submissions

I spent a lot of time this spring creating some cards, pages and 3D projects for Stampin' Up's annual Artisan Award contest.  Unfortunately, I didn't win.  But, I wanted to share my projects with you all.  I had fun making them, and was proud of them all.  I did wish I could have used some retired alphabets on the scrapbook pages, so I will do so for my personal copies.  Anyway, here are the cards for today.  Scrapbook pages and 3D projects to follow later this week!  Also, I have creations to post from my weekend of paper crafting with Tiff and Janie.

I think this might have been my favorite card.  It was inspired by a swimsuit I saw on a TV commercial!  As soon as I saw the commercial with the floral pattern and these colors, I wrote it down on a piece of paper so I would remember the idea as I didn't get a picture to remember it by. It uses the Easter Blooms set and matching classy brass embossing template.

A Different Kind of KWerner Challenge

Wow, I didn't realize how long it had been since I posted here! I've been busy with a foster dog for almost two weeks, and then having family in town for about a week over the 4th of July. Anyway, I did some organizing and some fun things, but not much creating. Anyway, one of the ladies at work is about to have a baby. We are giving her presents everyday for the next couple of weeks before her maternity leave. I decided that probably every new mother could use some thank-you notes, and all the better if they were handmade! I was going to use a baby themed stamp set, but I decided to use the Always set from Stampin' Up.  I also used the matching paper, which I have had for awhile and hadn't used yet. Anyway, Kristina's challenge was to use your "scrap crap." So, enjoy these baby cards. I made 4 of each card, and the small 3x3 is the gift enclosure.
